William J. Hardee

Commander, Central Army of Kentucky, Corps Commander, Army of Mississippi and Army of Tennesseee

William Hardee was involved in the incident that began the Mexican-American War as a Draggoon lieutenant. He was a major in the 2nd Cavalry, commanded the Central Army of Kentucky, corps commander, Army of Mississippi and Army of Tennessee. He repeatedly refused high command. Fought at Shiloh, Perryville, Murfreesboro, Chattanooga, and the Atlanta Campaign.
