Telegraph Infrastructure in the United States ![]() Telegraph lines in Ohio and South Carolina in 1853 Technology played an important role in the North's victory in the War Between the States. While many use the railroad to highlight the difference between the industrial north and the agricultural South, the telegraph can also be used to illustrate the differences.
