Jubal Anderson Early

Amused by his first name, his soldiers called him Jubilee or Old Jube

A West Point graduate and prosecutor in Franklin County, Virginia, Jubal Anderson Early displayed his prowess as a field commander from Cedar Mountain to Salem Church. Thin and stooped from arthritis Early's unusual wit and bitterness alienated those around him. He could not master effective use of his cavalry.
